Since Ethan has been without a fever, we have seen the side effects of the medication on his behavior. When he had a fever I guess the medication didn’t effect his behavior much. I feel awful when I have had it and I can only imagine how he feels. It’s like being intoxicated on coffee. He becomes quite agitated, fussy, and when he doesn’t know what to do about it all, he hits himself in the head or bangs his head on something. It has also made him clumsy. He tripped and slammed his head into a furniture leg today. He has a huge bruise on his forehead. It is quite difficult to deal with so I will be glad when we can stop using it and just use the Pulmicort.
After his fever got as high as 104 on Saturday, Ethan’s fever finally broke on Sunday. We went to the doctor’s today for a follow up and she wants him to continue his nebulizer treatments for a couple of months. He is better but continues to cough. She said if we stopped the treatments he would get another cold within a week and be right back where he was.
Ethan has had a bad cold all week with a really bad cough. I took him to the doctor today and they gave him breathing treatments. They sent me home with a machine and prescriptions for Albutteral, Singulair, and some other asthma medication. They said he is too young to diagnosis with asthma but that we will have to keep an eye out for it.
George spent his first day and night with Ethan without me around to chaperone. I went out of town to a shower and George stayed home to watch Ethan. When I came home everyone was alive and the house was no worse for the wear (except for some incident that occurred involving cheerios that I don’t really understand-cheerios were everywhere in the kitchen). George said he had a lot of fun with Ethan but was tired out.
Ethan found his sunglasses the other day and I put them on him. He walked around the house for quite a while looking at each and every little thing as if the whole world were new to him. He even got down and looked at the carpet. (See the pics of him with his glasses on). He also loves to tickle himself, tickle others, and point out belly buttons. He can now climb onto a wicker chair in the living room (see picture of him on the chair showing me his belly button). Too cute!
Ethan had his last shots until he goes into school. Yay! These last shots hurt his legs so much he did not want to walk the whole rest of the day. The doctor asked how many words he says and I said, well he pulls up his shirt, scratches at his belly and says “Ticka, Ticka” does that count as a word?
