“Patience is love for the long haul.” Tim Keller
Glancing at my watch, I call their names again. “It’s time to go!” I had told them ten minutes ago to get dressed. I walk in their room and find them half-dressed and playing. My patience is worn thin and I’m irritated.
Sadly, it doesn’t take much for me to be impatient.
I’ve always heard the phrase, “Patience is a virtue” and “Never pray for patience.” When I think about patience, I think about waiting. If I’ve waited in line at the store without getting irritated, that’s patience. I also consider it a mark of patience to not get annoyed while I wait for my husband to return home from work. And patience is also when I don’t blow my top when my kids don’t get ready on time.

“Patience is trusting that God’s love is greater than the challenges before you.”
-So much truth! When I chose to focus on His love for me and what His love means (provision, security, salvation, grace, and so much more), what is infront of me, doesn’t really matter. My problems, my insecurities, my fleshly desires that I want NOW… they fade into the background. HIs love and the graces I am given right in that moment overflow my heart and mind. This takes practice though, patience and focusing on Him. We have to daily, no, minute by minute, chose to step outside of our flesh and open our eyes to His love all around us and how ever present He truly is. Our God isn’t slow to give us our needs and desires. They are everywhere. We have to name them. This practice in and of itself, slows me down and patience is slowly becoming a given in my life.
Amen! Yes, His loves overflows and the problem fades to the back. Thanks for visiting!
I couldn’t have said it better! Amen!
Patience and humility are a couple things that are difficult to become “good” at, because of how slow and humiliating the process is. Lord, help us.
I agree! Thanks for stopping by:)
