The road to gratitude can be a difficult one to travel.

I’ve been on this road a couple of years now. It’s a road full of beauty, hope and grace. Yet it’s also been a hard road for me to stay on. I’ve tripped and fallen. Something on the side of the road will catch my eye and I veer off the path. I’ve gotten lost onto dead end roads. I’ve even purposefully turned around and headed the other way, only to wish I never had.

One thing I’ve found over and over while on this journey to gratitude: the way back is always through grace.

It’s because of the Father’s grace that I can count this week (817-835):

A sermon on the Sabbath that set my heart free and made me cry. Best I’d ever heard on the subject.

A day off for the Firefighter

Boys flying in the air

Getting to see a movie with the Firefighter-it’s been a long time:)

The book of Lamentations-learning that there are good things that come from times of suffering that cannot happen in pleasure

That when I can’t see, He’s the light that show’s me the way

So thankful for my ladies bible study. This is my second year leading it (there was a need last year for someone to teach and I offered) and I’m so glad to be a part of it. I learn so much from a group of ladies, both young and not so young. They are such a blessing!

The hymn Rock of Ages

A friend teaching me different tricks with my new camera-I’ll get it eventually

Husband gracious to listen to my heart, even though it was about him

Our formal school day completed, Ethan decided to read on the couch. I sat down and read too. Peace and quiet. Ahhh…

Fun around the dinner table using our Family Conversation Jar

Lego men who join us at the dinner table-probably shouldn’t allow it-but hey, they’re only kids once:)

Bunk room where the kids put their lego men to bed each night

A kind blogger

Firefighter and boys cooking dinner for me as an act of service

Nutella cookies

  1. Wonderful list! I can completely relate to choosing the dead end roads - been there, done that! Only wish that I could learn from my own mistakes easily and not take those same dark paths again. But I know I will. BTW, I love the Lego men! Frequently, my littlest has a line of Matchbox cars at his place setting! Have a terrific week!

  2. Popping in from A Holy Experience…
I, too, love nutella cookies…nutella anything really. It’s a recently new-found pleasure. :-) I also love your Family Conversation Jar. Thank you for a wonderful idea!! My boys aren’t talking yet, but I’m filing away your idea for the not-so-distant future. Your blog is a happy find for me today. Thanks for sharing your heart.

  3. The road to gratitude… what a perfect description of it. Because it IS a way of life… and we DO lose our way sometimes.

Does your church record and post sermons online? I would love the link to the teaching on the Sabbath, if it is available!

  4. THanks for stopping by…I wrote there…but bares repeating…Bless you and your husband for serving others. Before yesterday…I have to admit I took what firefighters did for granted…yesterday awakened me to a deeper appreciation.
Amen to…”good things come in suffering that can’t happen in pleasure”…how I wish there was another way…but God is always good.
Legos…I miss legos…stepping on them in my bare feet…hearing the boys digging through the big bin for just the right piece. I loved when this summer…my 17 yr.old pulled out the legos… he was watching some kind of marathon show on tv and built a basketball arena. This just warmed my heart…I am not sure guys ever out grow legos…:)
    Blessings~
