Angry outbursts happen quite frequently with my boys. The older one a lot less so as he has matured but my three year old is in the midst of a challenging age. We often talk about how anger flares up like a fire and the need to extinguish it before it gets out of control. We recently updated our “family anger extinguishment plan” now that my youngest can participate in adding to the list. I talked with them about how they have fire drills at school in which they practice their plan on how to get safely out of the school should there be a fire. In a similar way, we made our list as a plan for what we will do when there is an anger outburst, or better yet, even before the anger builds up to an outburst. Both boys participated in adding to the list (the blankie one is my 3yr. olds addition:)

This is just one of the best ideas I have heard in - well - forever - and I’ve lived almost that long now. I was a teacher - and if I had this idea I could have used it for a hundred different things. 3000 shades of awesome.
God Bless.
P.S. you are so obviously a good mom
Very creative and awesome that they helped come up with it!
