Definition of News. News is an un unpublished account of public human activity, that seeks to entertain, inform, or teach the public. The first condition of news is that the writing must not have already been published somewhere else before. It must come to the public’s attention for the first time immediately. In this way, the public is warned about the occurrence of news and this gives it a guarantee that something new has been introduced.

Second Condition. This means that the publication of news can have some political element. This may affect the popularity of the writer, because many people will not like a news story that is wholly based on the personal interests of the author. For example, if an author has lost many people because of his politics, he cannot make news stories about political issues as long as he is still alive.

Third Condition. This means that the news story has to do with some aspect of human interest. If it concerns an issue that is of general interest to many people, it will not be given much importance. Therefore, the publication of a story with some news value may not necessarily have to do with the writer’s personal interest.

Fourth Condition. A news story is of public interest. Therefore, it may be freely published without constraint. Many newspapers publish material that is of public interest. In fact, many newspapers today are run by foundations, which give wide circulation to various newspapers. As a result, there are news stories that are considered of more interest to many readers than to others.

Fifth Condition. It is not the most important factor, but it can make the difference between a passing interest and a significant publishing activity. For instance, news about an extraordinary event that had a significant personal impact on a person, like the death of someone close may not be of interest to many readers, but it can make the occasion very memorable for many readers.

Sixth Condition. News should be considered as a unique product that is written about in distinctive style. This makes news worthy of repetition by listeners and it also makes news value less important. Repetition of a story does not necessarily make it newsworthy.

Seventh Condition. Reporters work hard to maintain a unique and interesting profile. Reporters try to make the profile as interesting as possible. Reporters try to write about things that interest many readers so that they do not stop listening to the news media. This is because there is no universal news media, and each readers have their own taste.

However, there are still some major flaws in the system of news reporting. Many newspapers and journals still do not put much weight on oral journalism. Also, television reporters and bloggers are not held accountable for their stories. Therefore, even though there are seven classifications of news sources, the problem is that journalists often repeat information coming from different sources.
