Christian Friendship

Proverbs

We met on an ordinary Sunday morning. People were gathered around talking after morning worship. Adults stood with styrofoam coffee cups in their hand, catching up with each other’s week. The children ran around like balls in a pinball machine, bumping into people’s legs and zigzagging through the crowd.

The pastor’s wife pulled me over where she was talking with a new couple I had not met before. She introduced us. Perhaps it was the common Christian college experience or that we were both introverts or maybe something deeper that compelled her to introduce me this woman and her husband.

We became quick friends. But it wasn’t until she experienced deep cutting sorrow in her life that our friendship became real. We spent many hours together, talking, sharing, reflecting, and opening up about our mutual struggles and pain.

This is Christian friendship. Transparent, mask-less, and honest. It involves entering the messiness of another’s life and getting messy too. Today I have an article at Today’s Christian Woman about Christian friendship. I hope that you will stop by and let me know your thoughts.

I am so thankful for friends who are willing to be transparent and share the brokenness in their lives with me…It isn’t easy to be real, but it is worth it…we are a people of truth. So I will have to say a great AMEN to this blog. Thanks so much for the work and time you put into writing these!
